Cannan Friendship Club Records
Scope and Contents
The Cannan Friendship Club was organized by Ella Pickett on Feb 21, 1924 in Putnam County, Indiana at the No. 7 Schoolhouse in Floyd Township. The club was originally known as the Cannan Home Economic Club but was later changed to Cannan Friendship Club on June 17, 1965. The first president was Maude Miller and the original premise of the organization was to “create and promote a more sociable attitude in the community.” It also included the social service of providing flowers and cards to the sick and bereaved. The collection contains the organization’s constitution and by-laws, programs, and treasurer’s report and minutes.
