The Twentieth Century Club was organized on June 1, 1898, in Greencastle, Indiana, as a women’s organization dedicated to social fellowship and the promotion of education, literature, and the arts. The club remained active until 1994, when it disbanded due to declining membership.

The collection documents the club’s activities and programming from 1900 to 1994. Records include minutes (1906–1994) that record the payment of dues, locations of meetings, general business conducted, and brief details of the program presented at each meeting. Program booklets (1900–1994) list officers, program committee members, meeting dates with scheduled programs, current members, and members memorialized. Additional materials include items related to the 50th anniversary, newspaper clippings, treasury records, correspondence, and other miscellaneous materials.

The correspondence files are of particular interest, providing evidence of the club’s humanitarian outreach after World War II, including the provision of clothing and other items to Germany, as well as contributions to other civic and charitable organizations.
