Content Description

This collection documents the service and commemorative activities of the 43rd Regiment Indiana Volunteers during the American Civil War. It includes the 1902 publication Forty-Third Regiment Indiana Volunteers: An Historical Sketch of its Career and Services, written by William E. McLean of Terre Haute, Indiana, and presented at the regiment's annual reunion in Indianapolis. Also included is the discharge paper of Thompson Brown of Cloverdale, dated June 14, 1865, whose portrait appears on page 48 of the McLean publication. The collection additionally contains a photographic image of William McLean and a 1987 Tribune-Star article providing biographical information about him. Two folders, arranged alphabetically by title.
