Content Description

This accession consists of five community cookbooks published by local churches in Putnam County, Indiana. The volumes were collected and donated by Edith Welliver. The cookbooks were produced between 1975 and 1996 and reflect fundraising activities and congregational engagement within the participating churches. Titles included are Gourmet Goodies for Greencastle Gals; Treasured Recipes: Fillmore Christian Church; Heavenly Dishes: Gobin United Methodist Church, Greencastle, Indiana; The Latchkey Holiday Recipe Book, Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church; and The Saint Andrew’s Cookbook. The churches represented include Fillmore Christian Church, Gobin United Methodist Church, and Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church. These printed volumes contain contributed recipes and may also include personal names, dedications, advertisements, and other locally significant content documenting church membership and community life during the late twentieth century. The accession is arranged as a small discrete group and the volumes are housed individually for physical support. No further arrangement has been imposed.
